Beginning in 2009, the reverse (tails side) design of the Native American $1 Coin will rotate each year. The design of the 2009-dated coin-based on the agricultural theme-depicts a Native American woman planting seeds in a field of corn, beans and squash, symbolizing the "Three Sisters" method of planting. Inscriptions on the reverse are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and $1. The obverse (heads side) design features Glenna Goodacre's image of Sacagawea, first introduced in 2000. The design includes the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST.
Like the Presidential $1 Coins, the Native American $1 Coins display the year, mint mark and the inscription E PLURIBUS UNUM on the coin's distinctive edge.
