Presidential Golden Dollar
In 2005, President Bush signed the Presidential $1 Coin Act authorizing the United States Mint to strike $1 coins honoring America’s Presidents in the order in which they served. This coin, the fourth in the Presidential $1 Coin Program and the final to be issued in 2007, honors President James Madison.
Following the American Revolution, Madison was instrumental in determining the course of the new Republic and in framing the government of the new Nation. With Alexander Hamilton and John Jay, Madison wrote The Federalist Papers, a series of 85 essays that advocated the adoption of the U.S. Constitution. In Congress, James Madison helped secure passage for the Bill of Rights.
The James Madison $1 Coin features a likeness of Madison on the obverse and a reverse design with a striking rendition of the Statue of Liberty. This coin features larger, more dramatic artwork, as well as edge-incused inscriptions of the year, “E Pluribus Unum,” “In God We Trust,” and the mint mark.
These James Madison $1 Coins are circulating condition coins and can be used in daily transactions. However, because these coins have never been circulated, they also make a great addition to your private collection or a wonderful gift for someone special. Add these historic coins to your collection today by ordering the 2007 James Madison $1 Coin set struck at the United States Mint at Philadelphia and Denver.
